The Rwsters gained their third straight win with a 0-3 defeat of Trearddur Bay, with another professional performance. It might have lacked the edge of your seat tension and drama of the previous week at Pwllheli, but it still means another three important points which edges Llanrwst Utd closer to the teams immediately above them (Conwy & Llangefni).
Llangefni Town moved to within 2 points of the top with a comfortable 4-2 win against Greenfield.
Llanrwst Utd started brightly taking the lead after 6 minutes, Matt Mullender long throw was headed cleared by Defender Dylan Williams, but Mullender was the quickest to react and his shot curled into the top corner from a tight angle out on the right touch line.
The Rwsters nearly doubled their lead on 32 minutes, a good move between Mez Knight and Mike Lundstrum found Gwyn Jones but his effort was smartly saved by the home keeper from 10 yards out. Barry Owen’s men doubled their lead 5 minutes later, a powerful shot from 18yards by Elliot Llewelyn smashed through a crowded area. 2-0.
Craig Moore did find himself through 1 on 1 with Man of the Match, Gwydion Owen but the Llanrwst keeper came out on top.
Llanrwst Utd management team would have been asking for more of the same in the second half, and the second half couldn’t have started any better.
The impressive Mez Knight beat two defenders out on the left before he drove into the box, his well timed pass was met by top goal scorer Lundstrum to make it 0-3.
Gwydion Owen had the better of Moore once again on 58minutes, and again on 72 minutes.
Llanrwst Utd did have a few chances to extend their lead late on in the second half but Luke Roberts and Aron Hughes were unlucky.
Winning Manager Barry Owen commented: Another 3 points for us in difficult conditions. A professional performance from all the squad, with a lot of positives against a hardworking side. We can now look forward to the Mawddach Cup on Saturday in a local Derby away to Blaenau Amateurs.
