Llanrwst Utd travelled to Pwllheli for the opening fixture of the new season. Last season, the Rwsters drew 3-3 at Pwllheli, and played out a 2-2 draw at Gwydir park so plenty of goals were anticipated however this wasn't the case. Pel started brightly, The impressive Tomos Jones and Marc Jones linking up well upfront but a solid looking back line nullified and clear cut chances. An Adam Redrup save with his feet was the only time Pwll got behind the stubborn defence. With the sun shining, the heat was definitely playing a factor as players started to struggle. Half time came and both teams came out looking to take control, Paul Cassidy and Sion Jones pace was always a problem for the home side. On 52mins Cassidy had a great chance cleared off the line. A couple of efforts from Tomos Jones and Tom Mahoney from 30yards out came back off the cross bar, to frustrate Pwll even more. It wasn't Sion Jones day, as he missed a free header from 6yards out and a one on one with the keeper in the 89th minute, shooting straight at the keeper. With as many as 6 players unavailable for the Rwsters, manager Barry Owen was delighted to take a point: We travelled today with a lot of lads missing due to one reason or another but the lads that played were all brilliant, everyone stuck to their job and on another day we could have left with 3 points. The Rwsters start off their home campaign this coming Wednesday, 6.30 Kick off against Abergele.
