Penrhyn were the visitors to Gwydir Park on Wednesday. The Rwsters playing their 3rd game in 5 days, Penrhyns game was called off on Monday to Abergele due to a waterlogged pitch.
With Penrhyn playing in the Mawddach Cup Final on Saturday, the Rwsters were hoping that Penrhyn would rest a few players but the only notable player was Forward Sion Bradley who was away in Cardiff with Coleg Menai. Barry Owen had to jiggle his team around as yet again, further injuries and tired legs played a part in team selection.
There wasn't much between the two teams in the first half, A Jenkins Header coming off the bar and Aron Jones volley over the bar were the best chances of the half. 0-0 HT
n 46minutes, Veteran striker Paul Roberts hit a well struck volley from 35 yards straight in to the back of the net. Llanrwst Utd were all shell shocked. On came Kyle Luffman and Jamie Turner, for Bryn Jenkins and Aron Jones. Turner was straight into the action, a strong tackle in centre midfield between himself and Iwan Thomas, With both players being shown a yellow card.
Ciran Jones was unlucky to see his header coming off the post at 0-1. Iwan Thomas received his marching orders shortly after as he picked his second yellow for pulling down Elliot Llywelyn. This seemed to be a game changing incident for Penrhyn, as they went up and got the second almost immediately, Steve Jones the goalscorer. On 84 minutes, Penrhyn got the 3rd. Llanrwst had gone to 3 in defence and were pushing for a goal but Meilir Williams beat Matt Mullender and Ciran Jones to a long ball and his effort squirming under Roberts.
Llanrwst have 3 games to go, and need 4 points to avoid relegation. Next home game is Gwalchmai at home (Game will be played at MBI Llandudno's ground) 3pm KO
