Llanrwst travelled to Penrhyn last Thursday evening for a 6:30ko. With the traffic lights in Betws y Coed, the team arrived later than expected which resulted in a short warm up.
Without playing for 4 weeks and the distance we had to go midweek, Llanrwst were without influential midfielder Leighton Griffiths and the experience of Jamie Turner and Ryan Watson ( Work commitments) & Gene Faulkes (University)
Llanrwst were under sustained pressure for the first then minutes as Sion Bradley and Meilir Williams caused all sort of problems with their pace and trickery. The first clear chance came when Bradley ran down the right hand side, cutting in and went down on the edge of the box from a challenge by Barry Owen, who was adamant that Bradley dived. Paul Roberts in the Rwsters net watched the ball sail over his crossbar. This seemed to wake the Rwsters up, with Llanrwst having the better of the chances before half time. Bryn Jenkins and the ever impressive Ciran Jones hitting the bar from close range from headers.
Assistant manager Jamie Williams asked for more of the same in the second half but it wasn't to be, with Penrhyn changing formation and their captain Iwan Thomas starting to have a lot of time on the ball in the centre of the park. Penhryn scored 4 second half goals, all from sloppy play from the Rwsters, who will have to play better against an inform Llanrug on Saturday.
