Llanrwst Looked to bounce back from a midweek defeat to Penrhyn, hosting an inform Llanrug side. The Rwsters finally were able to play at Gwydir Park, after several weeks of cancellations, the pitch was still far from perfect, but the game went ahead.
The game couldn't have started much better for the Rwsters, Alun Roberts scored his first goal since joining on a permanent deal from Conwy after just 3 minutes. Roberts delivered an in swinging corner which eluded everyone and found its way into the back of the net, a great start for the Rwsters. Both teams had half chances after that but the score remained 1-0, half time.
Llanrug had the majority of the chances in the second half, but the Rwsters were looking dangerous on the break. Llanrug were pushing for the equaliser towards the end of the game, but were frustrated with Paul Roberts pulling off a string of saves, one of which looked like a certain goal. In the other end Llanrwst could have killed the game off, Luke Roberts and Callum Parry looking lively creating half chances, but couldn't find the decisive second goal. This proved costly, with 10 minutes left on the clock Llanrug scored. David Noel Williams found himself free in the box, and this time there was nothing Paul Roberts could do to deny the visitors.
A late goal is always hard to take, but plenty of positives can be taken from the game, taking a point from an inform Llanrug side is a point gained rather than a point lost. The games are coming thick and fast for the Rwsters. Another midweek game, this time against local Rivals Glan Conwy at Gwydir Park, Kick off 6:30pm Tuesday the 19th.
